Do you want to be made well?

John 5:5-7 NKJV
[5] Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. [6] When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

[7] The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

[8] Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” [9] And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.

Often, we are quite similar to this disabled man. We have plenty of reasons why we can't get into the pool, i.e. basically no one helped us to enter the pool to get healed.

In today's context, the reasons are just the same:
  • It is hard to overcome my challenges. This is reality. Things have always been like this.
  • Times are tough nowadays. I don't think I can get a job, let alone a good one.
  • I come from a poor family, and my background doesn't help me to get ahead in life.
  • I don't have the smarts. I'm not intelligent and talented. It is hard for people to notice my contributions.
  • I don't have good connections or charismatic personality like other people.
  • They always know who and how to connect with to get ahead.

Do you want to be made well?

Jesus never asked the sick man if he knew why he was not healed. Nothing was asked about his background, or how long he has been sick. All our loving Saviour asked was - do you want to be made well?

The ONE Chance

According to the Word, there were many sick people around the pool. They were all waiting for the ONE CHANCE for a breakthrough to be healed. The chance was dependent on the first person to enter the pool. And they waited day after day, hoping for someone...

The ONE Person

Jesus doesn't ask for the whys and reasons. Men do. Remember his disciples asked why the man was born blind. Was it that he sinned, or his parents? Problems and challenges exist before us. But they do not concern Jesus at all. He is the great I AM. He is the ONE PERSON with all the answers. I AM the one who can heal, deliver and bless.

The ONE Response

Only one person got healed because Jesus met him. The masses do not matter. Jesus seeks us out daily and asks the same question - do you want to be made well? That includes peace of mind, healing, prosperity, opened doors, etc.

Our answer should be a simple YES, Lord! Not no one helped me, or whatever reasons or challenges before us.

He is willing and able. Let Him.
